Australian King Prawns are caught in The Spencer Gulf / Port Lincoln area and Mooloolaba /East Australia /Queensland areas. These wild King prawns are arguably the most popular wild prawn with an international reputation for being the highest quality prawn you can find.
The bodies have a gorgeous pink-apricot body with dramatic blue legs and tails with green or coppery markings. With this dramatic visual appeal and an intense flavor that is similar to lobster – it’s good to be King!
The flesh is translucent when raw then turns into bands of white and pink when cooked.
The flavor has an intensely sweet yet savory character with a rich, moist flesh.
Packed per pound. Whole prawns – head and tail on. Not deveined.
Please Note: Prawns are delivered frozen. Is best to keep frozen until a few hours before consuming. To thaw, leave in the refrigerator for a few hours. Prawns thaw quickly.
Once defrosted, black spots can begin to appear on the prawn which are ok but not attractive. If you plan to defrost and hold a couple days, it is advised to remove the heads as soon as possible as histamines start to release into the body which can affect the sweet flavor of the meat.
