New Caledonian blue prawns are of sashimi quality and highly valued around the world for their striking color and unique, slightly sweet iodized taste and firm and juicy texture. Their celebrated qualities are the result of the pure New Caledonian lagoon water in which they are raised as well as their natural food supply, the lagoon's rich bounty of plankton.
Farmed sustainably, these premium prawns are are nurtured in ponds built in natural beds filled by water from the lagoons. When harvested, these prawns are ultra-fast frozen with brine to preserve their best qualities. GMO free, and raised without antibiotics or artificial coloring, they may be enjoyed raw or cooked. Once cooked, they will naturally transition to a beautiful orange-pink hue.
Please Note: These 12/14 ct prawns are sold in a 2.2 lb frozen case. Must defrost the whole block at once so as not to tear or break any of the delicate prawns.
