Perfectly Seared Scallops

Simple yet elegant and so delicious, seared scallops are one of the quickest and most rewarding dishes to make! Pair with a lovely seasonal vegetable or puree peas, carrots, or cauliflower.

We suggest 1-2 scallops per person as an amuse bouche or appetizer, or 3-5 scallops per person for an entrée, depending on accompaniments.

Directions

  1. Pre heat skillet over med heat for 4-5 minutes
  2. Add 2 tsp oil and 2 tsp butter to pre-heated pan
  3. Place scallops in the hot pan and sear for 1 ½ to 2 minutes or until an even brown crust forms.
  4. Flip them over and sear the other sides for another 1 ½ to 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from the pan, lightly season with salt.
  6. Top with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and serve. Alternatively make a quick pan sauce by adding some butter and lemon to the pan, scraping up the brown bits. Spoon over plated scallops.
